Sartai Regional Park

The total area of Sartai Regional Park is 4,786 hectares. The park is established to preserve the Sartai Lake landscape, which has formed in the unique intersection of subglacial valleys (rines); its natural ecosystem, and cultural heritage values.

The park has a unique, the fifth largest lake in Lithuania Sartai Lake with eight major branches, and channels merging in the range of lakes. Šventoji River flows across the park and Sartai Lake. The hilly and hollow landscape of the central and eastern part of the park is interesting. The oldest spruce groves, swamps and various habitats of rare species are preserved in Vosynos Reserve. Antazavė Forest community is also valuable.

Sartai is famous for horse racing that takes place on the ice of the lake every winter. It has good conditions for swimming, fishing, cycling and walking.

Sartai Lake will not seem too small for fishermen and those who like canoeing; the place is a true paradise for water tourists. One can reach the southern part of Sartai Lake by sailing down Šventoji River. If You visit the mounds at the eastern branch of the lake, You will come back to Šventoji River by the 7-8-kilometer length south-west branch. Sartai Lake can be accessed by Kriaunos River starting from Obeliai town. Water tourists can choose 1-4 day routes. Sartai and Zaduojo Lakes are also suitable for sailing. The lake is fishy, and full of diversity and size of catches.

The 1,4 kilometre-long cognitive walking trail (13 stops) is equipped for pedestrians in Jaskoniškės Forest; and the 2 kilometre-long cognitive walking trail (five stations) is equipped in Dusetos Forest.
